Course Overview
This course is for those who have the responsibility for accurately recording the items and events of a meeting in the form of minutes. It includes confidence building, listening and accuracy skills and skills necessary to use Microsoft Word in order to prepare and distribute a set of minutes.
Key Elements
- Identify the roles of meeting participants (e.g. chair, minute-taker).
- Describe the purpose of minutes
- List the items that should be included in a set of minutes.
- Write a preparation checklist for meetings.
- Assess examples of “good” and “bad” minutes.
- Set up shortcuts for commonly used text, e.g. for lists of attendees, titles, date etc.
- Set up and use templates so that you so you can use the same layout each time you prepare your minutes
- Create personal distribution lists, in order to email your minutes.
